car wont start after running low on gas

These damn gas gauges in thes cars I just got a 95 Z 3 weeks ago,and the car has been running perfect. The needle was near the E but not on it,and I was less then 20ft from a gas staion and the car stalled.(I've ran ran both my T/A's ive had before several times on fumes)anyway I pushed it in,put gas and F.I> cleaner in it and it still wouldn't start I then had it towed home.I took out the fuel filter and there is no gas coming out of the line when I crank it. Does it Sound like its deffinattely the fuel pump, before I buy one and hack into my trunk? Thanks.

I know what you mean with the camaro gas guages, all of the 4th gens ive been in and owned are messed up. My car acted similar to yours when i ran out of gas but mine didnt run completely out. When i cranked it would idle really rough and jump up to 1500 then down to 500. I went and got $4 worth of gas and it cured it. Sounds like your pump quit though.

yea my dad always told my mom that running outa gas will kill the pump, but in our old f350 it had 2 tanks and everytime she'd wait till it was turning over w/o enough gas...

heh she also push started an automatic like that going down the grapevine at 75 w/ a load the engine shut off and started back up a few seconds later

Check ebay for 94-97 fuel pumps under the search "lt1"

you can get one for about 80 to the door

These cars don't have a fuel pump fuse right? My owners manual doesnt show one,but a few people have said its under the dash, but,I did a little shoppin around.(I'm leery about buying a used one fron ebay)Summit has the Granatelli (is that the walbro?) one for $125 plus about $20 for shipping within 2 days.Anyone have that kit and is there any problems installing it?Or should I just get a new Delco one, which I found for $154 from a distributor.I dont plan on souping this car up much so I dont really care about the xtra lph.what should I do?
