New Dyno Numbers on Impy 592rwtq, 531rwhp-UPDATED with graph

Hey fellas, I just got back from Albuquerque, just had Bryan Herter do a dyno tune on the Impala. I am happy to say the least. My no spray HP was 461, and 531 with the 50 shot. My last dyno a couple weeks ago at Texas speed was only 465.? WITH the 50 shot.

He worked with my fuel quite a bit, it was running WAY fat, as in lower than 10-1, and hes got a dead solid 12.0 AFR tune in it now. I cant wait to get to the track!!!!

I had Eds mail order tune, and wanted him to dyno it. But after unsucessfully trying to setup dyno time with him for several weeks, I found out Bryan was going to be up here, and jumped at the chance.

Bryan is the man!!! Hands down. I cant imagine a tuner having better accessability or customer service. I would definately urge you to use Bryan if you haven't already.

Here is the graph of the 50 shot run. You will notice the afr was 13.0 on this run. It was 12.0 without the nitrous, but started getting a little lean on the bottle. I upped the fuel jet to corrent this.

DynoEdge 50 shot

The thing I really like is with the spray, I will never have less than 500 hp going down the track.

Maybe its time to up the shot to 100 or maybe 150 and see of if unported stock heads in a big boat can run 10s at 6k feet DA, LOL

Nice numbers, especially on motor. 6000ft DA is nothing.... you should come to colorado and run your car!

Not too shabby Skipper. Now you just need a license plate that says "MINNOW".

Seriously though, nice numbers.

Those are some good numbers on motor and on the bottle. Good luck with the setup.

ea1 just a question for ya.. did you run the motor to 6600 rpms like the graph states? i have a similar setup to yours in the works...turning those r's is it safe to the motor?

Steve

I run the car to 5800-6000 at the track, no real need to go higher, as when it shifts it still has the same power (my converter-edge 3000 stall- flashes to 5100 on the n20). I have NEVER ran my car over 6100 rpm, except for that run. My car has a stock rotating assembly, with forged pistons, even the rod bolts are stock. I REALLY dont think it would be a good idea to regularly go over 6k with it. Thats the nice part about the big TQ, no need to rev to the moon.

It is kind of interesting that my window switch is set to shut off at 6200, but you can clearly see the N20 drop off at 6400. Maybe it took that long for it to actually stop spraying, and for the dyno to read the drop in power.

those are amazing numbers..i may get a co2 setup just for my intercooler..i dont feel comfortable spraying the motor..was thinking of 6200 for my cutoff in rpms. its just that more motor rpms. equal more turns on the blower..ie more boost..so i wanted to spin the engine as much as i could without causing problems..thats why i asked..

If you have more left in your blower before reaching your max impeller speed, just put a smaller pulley. depending on your heads, a smaller pulley may make better power at a lower rpm than revving it higher.

I was leary of spraying the motor on the boost, but now that I have done it, I wish I would have done it sooner. It makes such a BIG difference in the way the car feels, lauches, etc.

I would pulley mine for even more boost, but I already have my s-trim overspun badly to build the boost I am getting at this elevation and with the hot cam.

well i got a 2.65 pulley they dont ship the 2.55 pulley anymore so im maxed out on the pulley. we'll see how it runs....co2 for me i think its safer and alot cheaper...the kits go for 369 or so without the bottle but wont get me near the results of nos....but its better than nothin
