Need Lower compression without changing bottom end...ideas?
Well i built my motor for nitrous but i would like to go with forced induction if i could. Pretty inrestead in the Lt1 boost shop car turbo kit.
Alittle backround on my motor. 355ci 4 bolt splayed billet main caps, stock lt1 crank(turned), scat forged i beams, And mahle pistons. The problem is the compression ratio is about 11.5 to 1 and i want about 9.5. I have advanced induction heads with probably 64cc chambers, could i just port these out? Does afr make some 76 cc heads, will this drop the comp enough? could i run a thicker head gasket? Clint(lt1T/A on here) built the bottom end to hold a 250 shot of nitrous so i think it could haddle 12-15 psi with no problem.
Thanks guys
James

I think you'll have a hard time getting to 9.5:1 from 11.5 unless you go to 76cc heads with chamber work. Also, what scat I beams you got? They make a couple. If you didnt get the 7/16 8740 bolt rods minimally you might want to re-think the bottom end for boost. The lesser rods are only rated to 500 hp I believe, and thats just asking for disaster with boost.
