What are you talking about, the STS turbo makes like 700HP.... On the GTECH

I mean it's cool to have some gay hack job turbo kit, but if their gonna charge the same price if not more than all the supercharger and turbo kits out there then it just makes it that much gayer

Oh well I like seeing people waste their money on gay crap, then when your in my rear view I can say I just smoked a turbo camaro

Correct me if i'm wrong, but it was your idea to go cut off people's rear mount turbo kits and put it on their hoods...just for fun... Dip$hit

The difference between someone sawing off a muffler and a rear mounted turbo is about $450. Who the hell would saw off a muffler thats worth maybe $15, just got to the next car with a $500 turbo hanging off the rear and make some real cash.

I don't believe it's a good deal for the cash. I could make the same setup for almost nothing since I pick up free turbos from time to time.

its not a regular turbo that one can pick off of a junk yard. the turbo was designed by garret to be a remote mount turbo, they made the intake housing smaller to speed up air velocity to turn the turbine faster.

as far as turbo lag goes, theres isnt much of a lag then a regular turbo. there are a few members with this kit and they love them, ive ordered mine as well. theres lots of info on this system as ong as your willing to hit the search button and read before you start posting crap.

concerns about stealing turbos, well if its under your hood someone can take it as well. turbos all sound the same anyone can follow anyone home if they wanted to. which crook is gonna go around with a sawzall looking for rear mount turbos to steal. most people have expensive rims that are easier to steal and sell. and how much noise is a sawzall gonna make, think about that.

as for price yeah it may be pricey, but you have to take into consideration of the oiling system is costly, the reasearch and development that went into this as well. and not to mention ease of installation using existing stock mounting brackets. doesnt leave a trace it was ever on.

the long intake pipe from the rear to the front isnt much longer then a traditional turbo piping routing to the nose through a intercooler and back up to the intake.

the kit makes power and has dyno results to prove it, this spring im sure it will have track numbers as well.

ok according to his little gforce thing, his 60ft time is 2.361 and his 1/4 mile time is 14.8@95 mph.

my 95 Z28 has 2.73 gears and it ran 13.9@99 with a 2.145 60ft. maybe thats the altitude killing it too but still. 14.8 is kinda slow for stock.

are they sure they had the petal down all the way on the "stock" run?

if you read the posts that have been floating around, they note that where they are at (Utah?) its not uncommon to see DA's of well above 10,000 feet. Stock cars up there don't get anywhere close to 14.0 like they would at see level. They added something like 12MPH to the stock car they were testing on in 1/4 speed (with 8psi and their methanol injection kit).

pro turbo kit looks nice to me,but at 5 grand I would just go and get the New Banks twin turbo kit for $5995..This rear mounted thingy is intriguing, but hot turbo next to gas tank and or rear end collision and losing the whole set up don't really get me too excited..bad things can happen

The track altitude where all runs were made is 4300 feet. That is not density altitude, but actual track altitude.

The F-body Motorsports kit IS the STS kit. Rick from STS is selling the kits to dealers now.

The LS1 kit should be out soon. Bone stock 99 T/A did 416hp @ 5psi and 509hp @ 551tq @ 8psi with methanol injection.

None of the STS kits come with tuning.

I have a friend with an OLD Incon TT kit pushing 533rwhp @ 9psi and no methanol on 91 octane from a bone stock 98 Camaro with LS1 edit tuning. He does have an upgraded fuel system though.
The same guy has pulled 574rwhp @ 10psi with his new methanol kit, still on 100% 91 octane. Stock, never been apart original engine,(stock heads, cam, block, pistons, etc.). More tuning to come.

the kit is still a little pricy, but if it drops down another 500 bucks or so, then it wouldn't be to bad of a kit. Afterall it is very cheap, 1500 bucks cheper than the proturbo. True if someone hits you from behind it might get toasted, but same thing if it happens in the front, and I think front crashes are more common. They should sell a thin steel plate to go over the turbo so no one can see it, or at least sell one for the convience for customers. With a cover plate I doubt theives ill automatically asume there is a turbo under there, especially if its painted to the same color as your underbody. After a few more poeple get these kits we will see how they hold up. My only worry would be exhaust leaks that seems to pop up every so often from bad welds or smacking the pipe on high speed bumps. Does anyone know how much the entire system weights? Does it come with a switch to turn off the boost under normal driving times

I believe STS stated in an earlier thread or maybe it was on their website that no part of the system sits lower than any stock pieces on the car, so speedbumps should not be an issue IMO. You don't need a switch to turn off the boost, just stay out of the throttle enough so that the turbo won't spool enough to produce positive manifold pressure.

STS, the Powerdyne of turbo kits.

Think about it.....it really is an excellent analogy.
