Re: LT1 Boost PT88 Build

Kit is pretty much done (fabrication wise). Just waiting on the turbo and miscellaneous fittings.

Hey Jon, I was just wondering, is there any way to route the wastegate dump under and away from the cabin? I'm worried about it smelling inside the car. Do you have any suggestions??

Should be pretty simple to route the gate back into the down pipe.

The wastegate is only open and dumping to atmosphere when it is trying control boost (which only happens when you are flying down the street)! It isn't open when you are at idle or slowly cruising, so there really isn't a chance of it getting into the engine compartment. I have the dump pipe aiming down to the ground so under aceleration it will shoot down and not get all over the car.

Re: LT1 Boost PT88 Build

Jon, I was getting in contact with some local guys who do ceramic coating... What are the parts that will need coating? I'm guessing the hot side so headers, crossover, downpipe and wastegate dump? What about the actual turbo?

How much should a job like this run me and is there anything in particular I need to tell the guy?

And should I ceramic coat and wrap the exhaust or just coat?

Btw I tried sending you a text message the other day did you get it?

Ceramic coat everything you listed and probably do the turbine housing as well. The kit will probably run somewhere between $400-600 from someone local, and 800-1000 if you use a big company like Jet Hot.

On my kit, I coated and wrapped. You should test fit everything to make sure there are no fitment issues prior to sending them off to coat. When you test fit you will see if there is any electrical wires near the piping, and that will help you decide if you want to wrap the parts too.

Jon ... just wondering if you have someone local who you deal with personally for ceramic coating? Send me an email if you have someone in mind.

I use someone in the US (not really local to me). Your best bet is to test fit everything before you send out for coating (just to be sure everything is good).
