It's funny you mention that because that's what I mentionned in the reply but he insisted the PAC beehives were better for this application...

 

I wonder if Bret is considering valve acceleration under the 1.6 versus the 1.52. Perhaps it's easier to control the valve with the slightly slower acceleration of the 1.5x ratio and he/you don't have to use such an aggressive spring to reseat the valve at high(er) RPM and boost. Just speculating. When he spec'd my cam, I stipulated I already had 1.6 ratio rockers and to configure the cam's spec's with that in mind.

 

Dave how much lift do you have with 1.6rr if you don't mind my asking?

ahh ok yeah that's similar to me... the lobe lift on the cam that Bret designed is bigger but with with 1.52 rockers I am in the 575 range. What heads are you running?

 

When Bret spec'd the cam for my setup, I was running stock ported castings flowing 275/195 I/E but I was pushing water at anything above 12psi. I assumed it to be the thin decks of the stock heads. I went to some Canfields that have about the same flow but they're not ported at all(unlike what the guy that sold them to me said). The Canfields have bigger chambers (64cc I think) compared to my stockers 54cc chambers. I lost a noticeable amount of low end torque due to that. On balance, with the ultra low compression (7.x?) I have now, I have ran 18.5 psi on pump gas w/o detonation.

I now have a set of TFS heads with Lloyd Elliot and he's going to give them the works as far as porting.

Some work needed to be done to the block... It originally came with A-series bearings which are not the best for my application so I had to take it to a shop they took it apart, machined the main bearing bores since they said there was about .001" difference between them, and reassembled it with some high-performance H-series bearings. They also decked the block since it was not perfectly smooth. Also had the cam and timing set installed.

For this summer just going to get the rest of the motor assembled and get the rest of the parts together (mainly fuel system and ECU). Most of the project will probably get done over the winter

 

Ok so now I need some opinions on fuel system.


My buddy recommended this pump since it fits on stock pump bracket:
Racetronix - F90000267 - Fuel Pump - 416L/Hr, E85 Turbine HP

With a Kenne Bell boost-a-pump he thinks it will support 1000hp easy.

and fuel injectors also from Racetronix the 80lb/hr high impedance:

The stock lines are probably too restrictive for that pump. Racetronix recommends at least a -6 return line. You'll probably want a bigger feed line as well. Especially if you're planning to run E85.

 

We don't have E85 up here.

Fab, that 88mm is going to make some boost. The tried and true is Lonnie's double pump kit and I don't think you will have to upgrade your lines with it. Injectors should be OK.
