Re: Large (FMIC) ###

Lots of newer truck have 2.5 and 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust. I have been raiding the trash pile at our local muffler shop, and have gotten quite a bit of mandrel bent pipe for free. Around here every good redneck pays the muffler shop to yank the 3 inch mandrel bent tubing, and replace it with 2.5 crush bent duals with a flowmaster. Alot of it is even a low grade stainless (I think 409). The shop around doesn't care, I just ask and they roll their eyes and point to the scrap pile. If you don't mind dumpster diving, this yields free mandrel bent IC pipes.

I can't get myself to bring out the knife yet. I really like the looks of the 97 WS6 TA front end. I want it to look professional so anyone walking by would not notice it was not stock. I think some of those louvres you see on so many stock cars would look nice. I'm pretty good with fiberglass so I may end up "Macgyvering" one up.
I bought mine directly from Griffin. It took less than 2 weeks from the time that I ordered it to the time it was at my door. Part number cs-000ae-03 (4.212x30.00x13.232). I don't think that you'll be able to get that intercooler that quickly. Griffin has been having some trouble getting their products out in a timely manner.

I was thinking of using some louvers or grills from some of the newer cars or trucks, but they would not be as flexible (as I mean to form the mesh the way I wanted in order to follow the flow of the bumper) as the mesh that I got from Summit racing. I used some 3M body shop adhesive to mount the mesh and it hold wonderfully and the mesh really made the bumper quite solid.

It will not fit with the stock hood. I wanted it to, but it wasn't even close. I had the flange on Wilson elbow machined down half of it's original thickness. I used a Glasstek fiberglass ram air hood. I know one the owners and he put another piece of figerglass matting in my hood as I told him that the back of the hood would have to be "notched" in order to clear the intake set up... just to make it stronger.
