You'll be glad you went with VRE. I have had nothing but great experiences with them and their engines are top notch!

Throw away that calculator or the motor you try that on your choice!

Attached is a calculator that is not bad but none of the calculators are fool proof! http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx

so FedEx can blow me. it appears they've misplaced the entire topend of my engine, heads, intake, cam, all valvetrain parts. bastards. was supposed to be here on Monday at the same time as my big-block hub balancer. Balancer showed up, rest of it didn't they've "started a trace" to find everything but I won't find out till at least tomorrow too bad I'm leaving first thing Saturday morning to go back to school. *******s.

I ended up with a 7.65 lower pulley and a 4.0 upper. going to find out around Christmas time what boost I end up with using that combo and go from there.

Dana 60. Cheaper, lighter, and stronger than a 12-bolt.

How much boost did Lonnie estimate with the 4.0?

Not that I know of either but I'm about 6 months behind you, and I will be watching very closely. Thanks for paving the way so to speak. Mind if I pick your brain some when I start moving forward?

I believe we were figuring on the 12-12# range to begin with, then upping it to around 15-16 later on after everything is running and broken-in

absolutely, I'd be more than happy to help out someone else. what are you planning on running?

and as far as FedEx goes, apparently they found "part" of the shipment of parts and expect to find the rest of them Tuesday

Currently the car itself is being prepped, just recently finished the subframes and 8 point, but the ultimate goal is a 396 LT1 with 15lbs. I'm looking for as close to 700 at the wheels as possible. It may take some time but I want to do it right. And believe me, I've been doing a whole lot of research and "search" functions on the boards. But so far like you said, first time with an LT1 in a 3rdgen. It's pretty close to an L98 but different enough to make everything aggravating.

My current battle is with the clearance for the long tubes. Thankfully I have a welder so that should be taken car of soon.
