Intake Elbow Issue

Anyone happen to know of a decent elbow that will seal up to a Holley 58mm? I have a trickflow elbow but it seems the tb opening is slightly larger (~ 1/8") than the elbow so it refuses to seal no matter what I've tried. I can't remember if the vortech elbow I had years ago would seal to it or not. I'm possibly thinking of ordering a 90 degree silicone reducer.

Ok. Anyone successfully used a 4" to 3" 90* coupler on a supercharged LT1?

I'll take your word for it, but's hard to picture 1/8" difference being a problem on a silicone coupling that size unless you either have too large or too small of one to begin with, and it just won't fit the other side.

This is my solution for moving the MAF back up to the top.

I had to make a special (4" oval-to-circle 3.5") "Funnel" that mates to the oval output of the twin-intercooler pipe to the 3.5" rubber hose connected to the MAF. It is inside the light-gray rubber hose that is clamped at the the intercooler output and the MAF input. You can see the BOV in the photo near the left header. The IAT is not visible.

The 3.5" MAF output has a sleeved 3.5" rubber hose that fits inside the 4" elbow hose with two clamps.

The diagram below shows the funnel and the BOV and IAT connectors, not seen in photograph.

I'll see if I can snap a picture of it when I get off in the morning. Basically the silicone coupler I have has to be stretched to fit over the throttle body while the trick flow elbow will slip right in. When I clamp it down the silicone bunches up around the elbow leaving gaps.

I was actually looking at one of these. I don't plan to run a MAF so it would just transition straight to the 3" intercooler pipe and I would mount the IAT in the aluminum pipe with a grommet.

Maybe these will make the problem a bit clearer. The 3rd one is how it sits inside the silicone with clamps on it. Can't really tell with the flash on but the left side just won't seal up with the clamps as tight as I can get them.

try a t-bolt style clamp. How much boost are you running?

I'm using T bold clamps. Not sure on the boost as of yet, the car has been on the back burner for a while now and I'm finally looking to finish it up. The ASP pulleys are supposed to spin the T trim to 67k rpm at 6500 engine rpm so I imagine a good 13+ psi.

Im using my old powerdyne elbow (aluminum) and if I dont have the t.b. coupler clean and clamp tight it will blow off when I let out of it. Make absolutely sure you dont lube the lip to slide the elbow/coupler on the t.b. Ive learned the hard way it needs to be brake cleaned and dry and tighten the crap outta the clamp then it holds fine.
