Ideal budget bottom end.

i understand, you get what you pay for, but what would be an ideal budget bottom end.

my goals are 420-450rwhp RELIABLY..with long tubes(and cutouts), stock heads, mild cam, V1 S-trim @ 8-12psi and tuning.

now with that in mind, would i be ok to run the stock crank or maybe a scat cast crank? what about rods? should i go to a 355 setup? or should i go big now and go 383? suggestions on pistons/rods/crank aswell? id like to keep some low end grunt, so i think 9:1 is about as low as id like for compression.

or like i said, to keep it a budget setup, keep the stock bore and save a few hundred on machine work?

all suggestions are very welcome, and TIA.

Re: Ideal budget bottom end.

Got to know what you want to build and then look for the parts..

I waited for a year to get all my parts.. Some agree with where I got them others dont..

Eagle 6" 4340 H-Beam Rods = 275.00
Thunder racing 3.875" 4340 350 Main Crank = 375.00
Wiseco 4.180 20CC Dished forged Pistons = 525.00
Dart Little M Block = 1100.00
Motown 220 Heads = 1200.00

Total = 3200.00
For a 427.. I think it's a good buy..

Prices include Shipping.. All Bought off Ebay.. Some don't recommend.. I just checked ratings, called and spoke with sellers...

Stock crank and rods with a good set of pistons should do fine for power in that range.

Re: Ideal budget bottom end.

I have one that makes ~500 at the wheels, stock crank, Eagle H beams, SRP pistons, 9 to 1, ballanced up, stock heads with little pocket work, small cam, ATI provided 8# in front of an auto that went 10.87 @128. The rods are a piece of mind thing, it probably would be fine with a set of well preped stockers.
