Front mount turbo for LT1? (not STS rear mount)

Does anyone make a "kit" with a front mount turbo for an LT1? Maybe just all hot parts, or the whole shebang? Im looking at turbos, but i dont think the STS is up to the power levels im looking to hit. (around 700RWHP)

I hear pro turbo may make a kit? Anyone have a link to their website or info on it?

http://www.proturbokits.com/ well i found that. What other options are available? Also do you loose A/C or power steering or anything with the pro turbo kits?

PTK's setups dont ditch A/C and the like. There are quite a few more out there at the moment if you do a search.

Though it should be said there are rear mount turbo cars making upwards of 700rwhp...

The only downside to the PTK kit (in my opinion) is that you have to remove at least one stock fan and install a pusher. I've never had luck with non-stock cooling fan arrangements. For that reason, I built my own. I do believe, however, that the PTK kit will make the most power and is the best kit available on the market. You might find more info on forcedinductions.com.

Contact GMR Speed. www.gmrspeed.com and talk to Joel.

They are in the process of fabricating their front mount LT1 turbo right now. It should be ready to ship in the next few months. It will be similar to there LS1 single turbo kit which has been doing awesome and people have made good numbers with.

They are using my car to fabricate the LT1 turbo kit. Were looking for 600+ rwhp from mine.

I totally agree. Espicially with the fbody fan setups, which seem to work really well compared to almost everything else. People that try to replace them spend a lot of time and money trying to get something else to work.

Seems like I have heard this sooo many times from companies about LT1 turbo kits... you hear about one being mocked up and ALMOST ready, and then you hear nothing else Hopefully that isnt the case here.. the more quality LT1 turbo kits the better.

Re: Front mount turbo for LT1? (not STS rear mount)

Thats cause we the LT1 crowd are like the red headed step child. We come secon to LS1s as they do make a lil more power a lil easier. Everyone seems to think the LS1 is greatly superior, although a properly done LT1 is right there with the LS1, and probably cheaper to do too. Oh well. Guess i will just keep crying my LT1 needs spots from LS1's.

But yeah im sure if someone put a quality kit together for a descent price they would sell quite a few. LT1s are cheap to get into, so alotta people have $ to play around with if they jump into the LT1 boat. Whereas a clean low mile LS1 will set you back around 20Gs, and high mile ones are still floating around 10Gs. If your looking to build the entire motor and drivetrain, i dont see the reason on buying a LS1. Unless you wanna spend a whole lot more $ to go a tiny bit faster. Maybe.

I know what you're saying about people promise kits, then can't deliver them. I'm sure this won't be the case with GMR Speed. They said they were building a single turbo LS1 kit, the a few months later it was avaliable for sale. Next they said they were building a Twin Turbo LS1 Kit, and a few months later that is for sale. The LT1 kit shouldn't be a problem for them due to it being similar to there LS1 kit, which is currently selling and doing well for them.

I will keep everyone posted on this site as to the progress of my car. The engine is at the machine shop now, and as soon as it gets back they are going to start the turbo build on it.
