Custom pressure side & suck side piping

Is there a better way, or a way to get more air flow from the charger to the TB..custom 3" piping ....

How many people have made a 3.75" (T-Trim) pipe to feed the SC and what air filter.

Or what are some better way to free up BOOST...

Re: Custom pressure side & suck side piping

I played with this a bit and found that any imprevements UPSTREAM of the blower do far more good than improvements downstream. I build a mandrel-bend 3.5" inlet pipe for my T-trim and gained about .5 psi. Then, I removed the whole inlet pipe completely (let the S/C draw from atmosphere) and gained another >1 psi.

I fixed the whole situation by using a 5" mandrel bent inlet pipe on my turbo.

Mike, where did you get the 3.5" pipe ? do you haae a parts list. Would this be a problem for the maf sensor going from 3.5" to 3" back to 3.5"....Did you not have an air filter on your SC...

I bought the 3.5" mandrel bends from a local Deisel truck shop called Margot's, but you can get them here also:

When I ran without a pipe, there was no piping, MAF, or air filter. The MAF was downstream of the supercharger. I tried relocating the MAF only and found no gains.

Re: Custom pressure side & suck side piping

A 4" 90 might fit, but it'll have to be a miter bend, as no one makes it with a tight enough radius.

Re: Custom pressure side & suck side piping

I had to miter 3.5 tubing to get a good fit, but I have tpis long tubes that drop # 1 farther forward, If I could have used 4 inch would have bought a y trim insted of the T I bought in sept.

I don't know if you'll be able to find 3.75" pipe, but K&N makes filters with flanges up to 6".

Re: Custom pressure side & suck side piping

You can make a continuous 4" inlet tube from standard mandrel bends without any miters (all smooth flowing segments) It took (4) 90's to build it & it was frustrating to say the least. Connected it to the blower w/ a cobrahead.

It clears 275/40 tires along with the sway bar & fits above/behind the fenderwell/louvered undertray. No digital camera at the moment, so I cannot post a picture. It can be done, just takes some creativity.

Good luck.

I'm too lazy for all that. I'm just going to flare the end of my 3.5" pipe to 3.75" to connect to my T trim. Quick and easy.

What is the cobrahead who makes this any links to a pix...

Re: Custom pressure side & suck side piping

The cobrahead is right at the inlet of the supercharger, I think powerdyne uses one in there kits.

That was where I had to use all the mitered pieces right off the charger to clear the header than the steering rack and swaybar I think I used like 4 small pieces of tube all at just the right angle , the rest was a piece of cake.
