Cam choice?

I'm considering adding a cam to my list and I'm not real sure what I need. I'm leaning toward a Lunati brand cam since I can get one for about half price. Thought I'd ask you guys for some suggestions. The only thing that's missing in my sig is that I'm about to install a 9# pulley on my SC. I'm wanting to gain every little bit of hp that I can with this motor then when she goes I'll do a major rebuild to a 383. I've also considered the water/methanol injection as well. I figured might as well do the cam at the same time before I get the dyno tunning that I'll need. I'm trying to get to a 7.5 in the 1/8th without a rebuild. Then I'll be content for a little while.

Re: Cam choice?

While I am sure there is a lot more to it than that, in general a cam for a car with a centrifugal blower need 10-15 degrees more exhaust duration than intake and a couple of more degrees of lobe separation to avoide excessive overlap. As far as the Lunati line goes, I don't think they have cams specifically for centrifugal blowers.

If I had to choose a Lunati LT1 cam, I'd choose this one. It's the only one that doesn't have 110 or 112 LSA.

Should work pretty well.

LSA is not important, overlap is. Duration has as much to do with overlap as LSA.

But like I said... if I HAD to pick one of those ....

I wouldn't pick a Lunati grind to begin with

Yep, always liked the GTO's. Almost got one last year but then realized I don't need 4 insured vehicles for 1 person. If I had to get a new car, though, it would be the GTO 1st, Lancer EVO 2nd, and Mustang 3rd.

If you'll notice in my top 3, they all have 1 thing in common: 4 seats. Hell, the EVO even has 4 doors.
