Big block snout crank
Big block snout crank
Hey fellas does any make a crank with a big block snout?Been reading the stories of cranks snapping off and wondered if anyone has went this route.Have a F1 right now thinking of upgrading to a F1R.Any advise? Thanks
Re: Big block snout crank
All the better crank companies offer one. You will probably have to go with a jesel belt. (I don't know of any timing chain sets with the big block lower gear, but i could be wrong)
I just bought a ATI damper with a big block seal od with for the standard small chevy crank. I have a 4340 crank and ATI said i should be fine with this. ( I am looking this year for 750-800 to the wheels). Most of Damper problems are not enough meat on the Damper then it tears up the snout. Also watch out for detonation and overtightning of blower belts.

Hey Biggtime thanks for the reply. The Jesel belt do you mean the belt drive system? And when you ordered your ATI damper did you get the double keyway hub?Read a few post about that as well.

I did get the double 3/16 key way and i will machine a second keyway in my crank for it. I bought a new Damper, the special hub, bolt kit and the special cast aluminum timing cover. just short of 500.00 to my door.
