Of course they would say Yes, they're in the sales business. Whether or not a particlular blower is or is not a "street" blower is a very subjective question, and the answer will, therefore, will vary widely from person to person. One person's definition of a street blower may only include a Sq trim, while another person might think that an 16-71 would make a good street blower.

If they say its a street blower they will have a Carb EO# which is the point.. it exists.. funny that my head unit didn't came printed with it...

But still.. its a street blower because it has the Carb EO#

Yes, everyone agrees that the YSI is technically and legally a street blower, and that Vortech sells it as such. But this thread is about the X trim blower, which as far as we know, has not yet been installed on a 3rd or 4th gen Camaro, etc. Does Vortech market the X trim as a street blower?

Again, we are planning a XX project but the least of our worries are the cam specs. Our planning begins at the fuel cell and continues through the fuel pumps, lines, regulators, rails, injectors, intake, blower, intercooler, heads, short-block, EMU, convertor, transmission, rearend, axles, slicks, chassis, suspension, etc. All of those and others would be affected by a change to the XX.

Does sstrokerace have x or xx trim experience?

Any more questions about your X trim project? I'm sure the peanut gallery can come up with another few dozen totally irrelevant posts on unrelated topics.

LOL, it's OK. You can't get too worried about that sort of stuff on bulletin boards.

BTW, the reason the cam is a big issue is because I am doing something different. something I wouldn't be able to do with another type of supercharger or turbo.

You know that characteristic that centrifugal blowers have, where pressure goes up as a square of engine speed?

I want to take advantage of that to build a power curve of a particular shape.

I think he referred you to Brett because he knows alot of things about cams. He can design you a cam based on the characteristics of your engine. IMO there is a sciene to cam design. Some people claim to know and some people know. I am assuming with the XX-trim you are trying to be the fastest LS1 in the country. Rumor has it that Ronnie Duke's setup should run 7's this year.

If he still weighs ~3600 lbs., he'll have to make around 1400 rwhp to run a 7.99. He'll have to put a huge shot on his current setup to do that. We wish him the best and hope he does so.

BTW, this sub-thread is certain to create an avalanche of comments.

Yes and no. Don't forget that there are several YSI trim cars like ours blowing 1600 cfm whereas the X moves 1700. A good cam designer certainly could begin to design an X trim cam off of YSI trim and other blower data.

I was just more or less curious what your goals were.

Must be nice to drive a race car at 19.

If it takes a Z trim to be #1, then I know my Dad has thought about that. I'm licensed to 7.50, but it's difficult for me believe that a Gen 3 or 4 Camaro with Lt1 or LS1 or even C5R, like Duke's, will ever runs 7s, without a whole bunch of fiberglass and weigh reduction, in which case you would have a car like my Dad's Quick 16 Firebird.

If you are looking to build something that is this custom, why are you asking a bunch of us dopey antagonists on the internet what to do? Its obvious that we are peons when stacked next to living legends such as Grumpy Jenkins. Why dont you call up a professional shop and have them build the engine for you stealth? They would know more than us anyway.

Oh yea, a friend of mine has an x-trim on his 3rd gen SBC.

There it is. Pics posted in that thread as well. Its also been done by someone in California as well years ago. I have pics at home printed out where they had it mounted on the engine with a hogan's intake, water/air intercooler and it made 1400 hp if memory serves me correctly.
