Any one fimilar with ATI PROCHARGERS???
Any one fimilar with ATI PROCHARGERS???
I have a 94 camaro with a lt1 engine. The motor is all stock except with headers and a larger throttle body. I'm buying a supercharger for it withn the next up coming months. I'm looking at AT1 P1SC 8 psi procharger. Is this the easiet supercharger to install. This is the one where you dont have to run any oil lines. Also could I go bigger then 8psi for my application like to 12psi or ??? - It comes with inertercoolers. Also anybody knows any websites that sells them the cheapest I found the highest price at 3,600. Also did anyone every install one of these are they hard to install??? And is this the best supercharger to buy ??P1SC??? Can I use my hypertech or MAF with it also??
P1SC is the one without oil lines.
At 8 PSI expect to blow the motor at some point in time, so start saving up for that. You sure as heck cannot go bigger than 8psi on a stock bottom end. If it were me I'd go down a psi or 2, but some people are ok running 8.
Ps-> You really should search the forum, this question has been asked a couple hundred times before.

Not running intercoolers will not blow your engine.....you can "blow your engine" on 8lbs with an intercooler if you don't have a good tune or hell it can blow with a good tune.
Make sure you have a good tune.....but with stock internals it's pretty much an eventuality.

Long story short, with a LT1 and a supercharger, it will equal a rebuild somtime in the future. You could be like me and go for many years and about 95,000 trouble free miles or go one mile and the motor will give up the ghost. As for Superchargers, their are really only two company's that I would recommend for "big power", and that would be ATI or Vortech. I lean toward ATI because that is the setup that I have and it has been great for me.
Since you said you car is a 94, understand that you car is already 10 years old. A SC will show all the small faults in your car, and make them into BIG faults. Examples are small coolent leak=overheating problems, "loose"tranny= burn't up tranny, rearend making some noise=rearend blown. This is not to say that a SC is a bad thing at all, I would not trade it for the world but, remember your car came from the factory at about 275-300(motor hp), then the addition of a properly setup intercooled SC at about 8psi will give you about 400+(motor hp) so some of the stok components in your car will break, ether from the extra HP to just the fact that the car is now 10 years old.
Hope this helps and as others mentioned check old post and this question has been asked before. Also for priceing give Tbyne a call, they support this site and have smart people that can help you out.

The ONLY time anyone has ever posted a dead LT1 due to FI, is because of poor tuning, or greed (more psi, hotlaps, etc).

I paid $4000 installed and dyno tuned. My motor had 46k on it. 1000 miles, seeing 6-7lbs on boost on the gauge the rings are done. I wish it had lasted longer. Thanks to the folks on this board, I knew I was rebuilding sooner or later. Now comes another 4-5k on the motor.
Now I need more boost. Boost = Drug
On a side note, my buddy put the same kit on his mustang. His lasted 5 days.

Turning my already quick car into a land rocket with AT1 procharger systems
I talk to a couple guys thats own performance shops and all they do is install supercharger, nitrous and all that good stuff. They told running 8psi boost with the AT1 procharger is totally safe. My engine was recently rebuilt 5k ago anyways. I think it will be good. Also I thought these last 50k these superchargers. I dont want to spen nearly 4k and have it last a 100 miles or so. They have warrantys also. I think it will work out just good.

but for the most part, steves right
I picked up a Pro-Charger for my 94 Vette...decided to put 9-1 forged pistons, frgd rods and crank in it first. Biggest problem i can see now for you is the hypertech... that piece of garbage is only good for changing speedo and temp settings. If you go with the cooled pro charger start with 4 -6 lbs of boost and get your tuning done on a chassis dyno... the cost will be far outweighed by the poerformance and longetivity of your engine....sorry about my comments about hypertech but my experience with that crappo piece of junk is terrible and costly.... good luck
Hypertech - every one says its a piece of crap. My car used to run hot with the hyertech - my car is never above 170.00 I thought that was the best investment. Plus it made a huge difference in my horspower. - I could feel it night and day - MIKE
