Adjust boost with Timing Retard ****?

I was talking to a guy with a Vortech charger. He said he was only running about 2-3lbs boost but could increase it by turning his timing control **** inside his car. My understanding was that boost could only be changed by changing your pulley size!?! Am I wrong? Can someone fill me in????

the BTM **** - will adjust the amount or timing removed during boost.

It will not effect the amount of boost being created - this as you mention is a function of pulley size, rpm, and a host of other mechanical factors

Your buddy is mistaken
