Poerdyne??????
Poerdyne??????
I was wondering what you guys think of powerdyne superchargers?? I know Vortech and ATI are a big hit, but what about Powerdyne. The only reason i am considering the Powerdyne s/c is because it is "self-contained". No oil lines or coolers. I originally wanted to run 15psi but i think 6 is more realistic for what i can afforod. I just wondered haved any of you had or know about the powerdyne set up?? Do you have to relocate things and drill holes and move stuff---because that is what i am trying to stay away from. When i get the 396 built is there anything special i need, like pistons or heads or anything?
A Nu-tek built 396 with a Powerdyne 6psi Supercharger?????? What kind of power do you think that setup would have???
Take a guess__________

Nevermind on this post. I just got done reading some reviews.....sounds like it is a pice of crap.
Delete this thread it is wasting space.....poerdyne must blow......lol....and not blow good enough.

If you want a self contained blower, you can always go with the P1SC. I have one on my car and I am seeing 10psi of boost with my combo or if you want more boost and still self contained you can also go with the D1SC from Procharger (ATI).

I really love my Powerdyne but from the sound of things I doubt you'd be happy with it. Also, with the 396, I believe the Powerdyne would hold back the air flow at the RPM you'll most likely be turning (6200+). The ATI is a nice set-up but does require quite a bit of installation and maybe some fabrication to get the intercooler(s) installed and working correctly. The P1SC is a real good choice. All SC its will require some drilling and moving of things (air pump, ignition box, fuel pump, cruise control box) so get ready for it.
With the 396 and a supercharger (even 6 lb) you will most likely need larger injectors than the stock PCM can handle and will need to invest in an aftermarket controller. Maybe not an absolute but certainly a good investment for best results.
Have fun.

Say What are your engine specifics Mislman? How much boost you pushing and what have you done to the engine. 410 RWHP is a pretty darn good number considering those chargers are limited to the amount of boost. I was thinking of one of these for my daily driver and am looking for around the same horses, I want no more than about 450 RWHP. I'm tryin to way up all my options and find a combo with great torque and of course keeping the price down. What RPM does your charger start making boost--I hear powerdynes start much earlier than the others. Also are you happy you went this route as oppossed to heads/cam combo

I would be very weary of the people you do business with when it comes to that much money for an engine .
Combination Motorsports and Bauer Racing Engines are pretty reliable and most likely not try and "screw you" .
You know something i dont like people that always down talk a powerdyne blower, for what they are there pretty damm good i think. I love mine, and im making close to 400 rwhp too with 5psi and my mods..Oh yeah that a stock cam TOO..
So dont always judge something from what you hear,or WHAT THEY SAY.... And do yourself a favor too, learn how to spell.......

D James ... sent you an email with particulars. I am seeing 6.2 lb. boost on the gauge at 6K RPM. I shift the auto tranny at 5500 (5700-5800 by time it actually shifts). I see boost start at about 2300 but you have to step on it to get into boost. This is with a 4L60E tranny and Ford 9" rearend with 3.70 gears so I am losing some power over a 6-speed and the 9".
