2 questions:2 Step on Boosted LT1 / Bottom End Setup
2 questions:2 Step on Boosted LT1 / Bottom End Setup
#1: I have the MSD 6AL and i want to use a 2 step at the track, now i've had many N/A cars in the past with this feature, but when i tried this on this car it sounds totally different. I didn't race it with it i just tested it. It sounded just like detonation while boosting. Is it supposed to sound like this on boosted apps.? Will this tear something up?
#2: I have the stock bottom end, i want to upgrade on a budget. I was thinking of forged pistons and rods. I def. cant afford a crank. I want to lower compresson and spray Nitrous to cool the charge. Would this be strong enough. And how would i balance this setup?
Thanks ,
-Dennis

detonation?
You should check out this-http://www.jandssafeguard.com/. I'm using a 177 weiand/with a zex nitrous 100 shot on a 406. cheap insurance! Forged pistons would be a good idea, your rods will be fine. Any decent balance shop will be able to balance the rotating assembly.

I have a set of forged SRP pistons -24cc (.030 over) for a 5.7" rod and stock stroke crank. I bought these off another board member for my 383 setup, but they wont work with my rod and crank combo. They are in excellent shape and would give you a CR of around 9.5:1 assuming your running stock combustion chamber, .027 gasket, and 4.030 bore. CR would change a little for any changes in your combo, but not much. PM if interested $225 shipped to your door. Thanks, Rob
