Injuneer, two questions come to mind. Were they the SLP's that your friend was having heat issues with? Would ceramic coating have helped? Seems I read here a week or so back that the coating can give a 40% reduction of underhood temps. One more question. How did the extrude honed manifolds compare to the headers? Paul

My buddy with the 97 Z28 had a set of AS&M dual-cat headers. They were HPC cera-metallic coated. That was my point in explaining that AS&M made the dual-cat headers, but stopped making them because they had so many heat problems.

I don't know what kind of HP gains the extrude honed manifolds provided. The car was limited to very basic boltons.

Have a 1995 z28 5.7 lt1, it is federal, only one cat,i'm in Cal. I am wondering if I can remove, or make it so I can remove the heat shields on the exhause manifolds. It sure would make it easier to remove the heat shields first and then remove or install the headers. I'm guessing you have to run with the heat shields intact, i have oem headers.
It would probably save hours even changing plugs with those heat shields off.
I have already moved my electric air pump, and got rid of the pipes, and gone to hose over the top of engine, away from the heat.
any comments welcome.
