removal of cats
no, you'll probably pick up 10 or 15 hp that way. from what i have heard/seen, gutted cats dont really do too much. but my feeling is that you are spending the money and doing the work, why not do LT's with no cats and pick up 40hp.
From what I've heard, the LS1 manifolds flow pretty well compared to aftermarket shorty headers so the gains will not be huge between the two. As mentioned above, throw some long tubes on there and you will see some nice results at the rear wheels.
i cant wait to do my headers this summer. havent decided which brand to use. really like the kooks, but they are effing expesive. and i have heard good things about the pacesetters. they arnt so bad.
I helped install a set on my buddies LS1 and they are a pretty good set of headers. Fitment was good and he was happy with the better sound and power gains. The coating on my Pacesetters has already began to rust in certain spots though, but for what I paid for them, I can't complain too much about it.
