I run pacesetter long tubes and other than the paper gaskets they come with, I have had a problem finding gaskets that do the job. And truth be told the paper gaskets do it temporarily, @ least imho. I've tried mr. Gasket, I tried purchasing felpro's and the idiot that used to work on my car said that they "didn't match up" so I don't know if they would've worked or not. Cutting to the chase, here is what I intend to try, I have just purchased a set of percy's dead soft aluminum gaskets, and I have a set of papers from pacesetter, what if I gently seperate the aluminums, and permatex the paper gaskets in between? I may need to get longer header bolts and man even the header bolts with a 3/8 head r a pain to get down here, you wouldn't think being a hundred miles from houston that practically everything for our cars is an order part, if it's a break down situation u r screwed, but if it's a planned mod and u can order ahead of time it's ok,(thank god for jeggs) and u stand a 45% chance of getting the correct part that u ordered. But I've found that az is getting better about this. But back on topic, what do u think? Looking @ the alum gaskets they look very malleable but also like they aren't even tacked together. In the package they look like 4 separate pieces. So with them and the papers stuck in the center of the layer I'm hoping that there will be less chance of a blown header gasket. Let me know what you think, I'm going to try this tomorrow around 2 or so, if I can get ahold of longer header bolts!!!!

 

Guess I'm not sure why you won't just use the aluminum gaskets? I have used the same gaskets for 4 years now with no problem when I used to blow out the fel-pros a couple times a year.

And my Percy's are tacked together but with some gentle persuading you might be able to get them apart I suppose.

 

U have a point, my only reason was just to try something new. See I've tried coppers with no luck, mr g brand, so I started researching gaskets for headers and there's people that swear by and people that say stay clear of every brand of gasket. I'm unable to change the gaskets today anyway. The aluminum gaskets that I was sent r for square port not d port. I'm pretty sure I could still install them and have it work, infact I've been told by a few people that they only use square port gaskets on d ports. I'm not sure, and I don't want to have to change them again right away, so I'm gonna either find out for sure if they will fit and not offer any obstruction to the exhaust flow or I'll send em back and wait for the d port ones to arrive. Any body know for sure on that???? I know the square port gaskets will go on, but do they impede flow? I guess I could match them up next to a dport gasket. This could be interesting to see what people think on this any how. What's your opinion on it?

 

My square ports are larger than the d-ports so it wasn't a concern. Just check them prior to bolting everything up and make sure. The gaskets are pretty minimal to begin with.
