Headers, Factory exhaust question
Headers, Factory exhaust question
Hello everyone, I have a question and I apologize if it's a dumb one, but my 2000 Camaro SS has only one actual performance option, which is the Dual/Dual exhaust from the Factory/SLP. So I don't really want to take it off since thats what's part of making it an SS.
My question is this, is it a waste to get Headers for the car? I guess what I mean is, most people replace headers and exhaust all the way back, but I'd like to keep the Exhaust original since that was part of the SS option.
I also plan on possibly getting the Cold-Air Package from SLP to help it breath better.
Thanks to anyone willing to give me some feedback!

I have the SLP cold air intake and I love it. As for the exhaust I think you could get the headers and a Y pipe from Kooks or Stainless Works and they should hook right to the factory exhaust. I don't think the SS exhaust is much different than the Z28. I am ordering the SW headers and catted Y pipe soon and will be putting a magnaflow cat back on at the same time. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong. I do know you will need 02 sensor extensions. Good luck.
I could be wrong on all this since I just realized you have a LS1. My son has a 98 and his has the SLP intake and it looks and functions good but we have yet to do any exhaust work besides the Borla cat back he put on.

It might be slightly louder with a little deeper tone, but thats about it. It will probably make a little more power but even with the factory "SS Exhaust" there is still a little more restriction as opposed to an aftermarket exhaust.
Thanks Procharged94lt1. Thats too bad that even SS exhaust is too restrictive. Im just trying to keep my SS options. Makes no since to me to have an SS if none of the SS options are on there any more, and I really only had One, besides the apperance things on the car.
