dual exhaust

i have a 19984 camaro and i want to put dual exhaust on it but i heard it rattles against the frame and i was wondering if i could just not have mufflers or catalitic converters, ive seen camaros like that before. the exhaust wouldnt even stick out the back it would stop at like the middle of the car, this might be kind of hard to understand lol and would it be street legal?

Clarify the year of the car.... 1998, 1994, 1984?????

Running without a muffler is not legal anywhere that I am aware of. Running without a cat, on a vehicle that left the factory with a cat, is a violation of Fedaral emissions law. So is changing the number or location of the cats. Most states require that the exhuast exit beyond the limits of the body, not under it.

Given that, its hard to see how a system with no muffler, no cat and a turndown under the car would be "street legal". The question is, what sort of inspection (if any) does the car have to pass?
