Changing from Dynomax Super Turbo to Magnaflow?

Hi,

sorry for my crappy englisch. I'm just a little Camaro freak from Germany

I´m thinking of selling my Dynomax Super Turbo muffler und buying a Magnaflow catback.

IMO the Super Turbo could be a bit louder especially in idle. And it could sound deeper and more aggressive. IMO it sounds just not enough like a V8.

But I'm not sure if the Magnaflow will make a big difference
I like the tips and the cheap price for a stainless catback.

What do you think? Does it make noticable difference or is it not worth the money?

Thanks!
Kai

I dont think its going to be worth the money. The magnaflow is a pretty quiet system. Both are going to have a similar exhaust note.

I would suggest looking into a set of headers if you dont have a set. They will give your exhaust more tone and give you a signifigant horsepower boost.

The Magnaflow is extremely quiet at idle and doesn't come to life until you have the throttle open. One advantage it does have is that it is all stainless steel and is very affordable. If you are looking for something deeper and still cheap, then maybe check out the Hooker catback. I know a couple people with the Hooker system and it sounds very good all across the powerband.

Thanks, for to reply.

I thought the Magnaflow is louder than the Dynomax Super Turbo.

If not, it's not worth the money.

Maybe i should rather buy a Borla catback.

Thanks, Kai

The Borla is a great quality catback, however, for the big cost, some people feel it is "an expensive cutout." Have you considered just adding a 30 dollar exhaust cutout to your setup? That will make it louder and not cost you much.

Guten tag! Wie gehts?
The super turbo will be quieter than the Magnaflow. Turbo style mufflers track the exhaust back and forth through the muffler in an "S" shape (like stock mufflers) where as the Magnaflow is a straight through design. While the Magnaflow is relatively quiet compared to other catbacks, it won't be as quiet as a super turbo.

The Borla is nice because it is adjustable, but it is expensive. You could just fabricate your own or put a cutout in your I pipe for less.

Can you run headers in Deutschland?

I've been to Heidleberg. It is a nice place from what I saw. Would be fun to drive around there in my SS.

Guten Tag Greed4Speed ;-)

They never sold the SS officially in Germany, so the SS is very very rare here. Would be nice to see one in Heidelberg :-)
And I would rather like to drive my t-top Camaro in sunny Texas :-)

I know a cutout would be way cheaper.

But the problem of all German Car enthusiast is the car inspection which we have to pass every 2 year :-(

There is no chance I would pass the inspection with a cutout! But there are good chances to pass it with a Borla by just closing the right pipe :-)

Thanks,
Kai

You could get 2 slip fit sections. One for the cutout and another a straight pipe. Just slip the cutout off and install the straight section for inspection.

That's a good idea to just replace the cutout with a straight pipe.

I think I will do that

Thanks,

Kai
