Angry Worn out posi? How can I fix it?

I know my car was posi because there was always rubber up inside the rear renders when I'd lay em down......but now only the right wheel spins. The left wheel dosnt even try to spin, not at all.

Can I replace a part back there, or add something to it to fix it?

I'm not sure if its called a clutch drum or something like that, but I've heard that if I add something to it called whale oil or something like that, it will help the clutch drum hookup and make the posi work again?

If it's totally one legging then your only recourse is to replace the posi traction unit. Up to $400 + install average.

You can try to change the gear oil first, that sometimes revives them a little bit....

Just be sure to go to the GM dealership and get a bottle of Limited Slip additive (~$5) and add that in with the gear oil.

You can find a SLP unit for $100 ne w sometimes or look around and you could buy a whole rear for $200 around here sometimes. Later Clint

Depends on what posi unit you have. If you have a zexel torsen, you need to replace it. If you have a clutch type posi, open the rear and see if its the clutches that are worn out and if so you can rebuild those fairly cheap, around $60 I believe. Look at your options first before you go "Oh ****, I need to buy a new one" :P.

I have the same prob man..........i was going to change the oil but do you guys think it would do anything? Would a 94 have a clutch type diff?? I might re-build mine if i can......while i wait for the 2500 for the 12-bolt ......i really don't like the screeching noise from the rear when doing a burnout.

tranny is acting weird too......and the opti is going also......

For some reason, my posi is working now

I did a couple burnouts (with only one wheel), and then all of a sudden my posi is working like new. I have no idea what made it change from not working at all to working like new.

Any idea what made it work again?
