I thought that all 4L60E's had electronic speed sensors, and no longer used mechanical gear-drive speedo gears? However, I know there were a few things different in '93, so IF you've got the little gears inside the tranny for the speedo, they would be on the passenger's side just ahead of the tailstock (I think? ) with the speedo cable running to it. If you've got the speedo cable running to the tranny, you can't miss it. I'd double check first though, 'cause you may need to have the computer re-calibrated for the gear change instead.

'93s used a 4L60 (basically a 700R4), so they would still use the recal gears. Your description of their location is right though. Both my old 4L60E and my current TH400 have the speedo gears on driver's side of the tailshaft. There's a small bolt (10mm??) that you have to take out to remove the sensor. You may have to take the tailshaft off though...I had to on my 400 to put the electronic sensor & correct gears in.

Not sure, I did my 400 on a workstand. I think there's enuff room to get in there and swap them out under the car though.
