I, being a non-gearhead, went with a 700R in my crate install. I'm glad I did. It's very streetable compared to a 3 speed auto. And no mods were necessary. Although I have found less shifters and torque conv. choices are available for the 700R compared to a 350 or 400.

Is the 1993 Z28 auto trans non computer controlled like the 700R? If it's not computer controlled maybe it would hold together better considering it was made to go with the LT1.

Ok I can't sleep. The early 1993 Z28 came with the 4L60. Its Later years were the 4L60E and 4L65E. Anyway the 4L60 uses a tv cable like the 700R. So you can use it easily.

You'd need a 1993 TV cable, bracket, and throttle body. We could supply the correct cable, and bracket with a rebuild. Your '83 also came with a 700R4, so mounting it would be easy, as would just using a 1983 dipstick and tube.

We have 700 cores available. A "Pro Race" 700 that's 9 second capable will run you $1600 + shipping, or a "Race" unit would run $1300. The cable and bracket are right around $40 for original GM parts.

If you're goping to do alot of street driving, you can't beat a PROPERLY BUILT O/D with lock-up. A 700 R4 is the obvious choice.

Give me a call, if I can be of any assistance.

Thanks,
Frank
