What is chattering???

As the title says, what exactly is chattering (please forgive my lack of knowledge )? I hear people use the term a lot when referring to clutches, but having not driven a manual before, I haven't had the chance to experience it. Could someone explain what exactly this is??

I purchased a Spec Stage 3 Clutch for my M6 coversion and from what I have been reading, chatter is part of the territory with these clutches.

best i can describe it is when your letting the clutch out, the car starts shaking as the disc is engaging

exactly...it will shudder as the clutch grabs.

it's normal to have it during the break in and sometimes for a little while after it.
mine went away totally after about 1000 miles with my SPEC 4

Good description; only felt during first and reverse.
