Help! Spec Stage1 Bad Chatter

Just had a complete tranny and cutch job done on my car and had the shop install a Spec Stage 1 clutch kit. Also reserfaced flywheel, new pilot bearing TO bearing, mounts.. evreything was dne right but the clutch chatters terribly when I try to slowly engage it in 1st or reverse. If I engage it quickly all is fine, but I can't always play Ricky Racer in town in traffic.
Is this normal for SPEC, I specifically chose the Stage 1 for my mostly stock car because it is my daily commuter/driver and I wanted SMOOTH!
SPEC advertises their Stage 2 Kevlar as chatter free, does that not aply to their Stage 1?
I appreciate any advice or comments.

From all the SPEC posts i've seen on here the chatter will go away after you go through the breakin procedure (500 miles).

Take it easy for 500 miles (no burnouts or hard acceleration...just drive like you would in your neighborhood at 2 am). After 500 miles....flog that bad boy if u want. I have a feeling..like alot of things....that alot of failures are due to improper break-in.

Angry

Too late! crap! Well I haven't launched it like I was racing but I and the shop have definitely test driven through the gears and I have slipped the clutch enough trying to engage it smoothly that I made a big clutch stink! What is the likelyhod that it will still "break-in" properly?
I just got it yesterday and the chatter is so bad in traffic that I feel like something ids going to break.

Just break it in....don't worry about what has been done. From what I have heard...about 300 miles through the break-in is when the chatter will die off.

FireAm94,
Thanks very much for the info and encouragement, I see you're in AL like SPEC. I also see from your profile that you are running a combo that I have been considering. I just updated my trany to the 94+ gearing and was planning on doing 3.73 too. Most of the other things you have on your car are in the works for mine (Jet Hot Headers, 1.5RR)and I was curious how the drivability is of the Hot Cam and what you best milage is like now, did you lose economy (when your foots not in it)

Actually....my best on the highway was 26 mpg. As for the Hotcam I would go a little bigger myself but I can't crap on the cam. It netted me a best of 12.88@109 without slicks and i've seen lots better on the board. I live about an hour from SPEC....waiting on my Stage 3 Ceramic right now....as my Centerforce just crapped out. BTW...if you are going with the hotcam be aware that the lift is rated with a 1.6rr.

The cam sounds very daily driver friendly, I only bought the cheap Proform 1.5 rockers as a temporary upgrade (I didn't want to do springs yet) and will probably get the Hot Cam Kit when I'm ready. Thanks
