Way to tell diffence between 700r and 4l60
Way to tell diffence between 700r and 4l60
I bought a wrecked 93 Z28 as a parts car for my CMC race car build.
I pulled the motor and tranny and the transmission looks as if it has been replaced at sometime.
There is yellow writing on the side of case like wrecking yards do and it is marked "89 c.s.b."
It now has me curious if it is just a 700r instead of a 4l60.
Anyway visual diffences between the two transmissions?

A '93 4L60 will have a ROUND case connector with 5 pins. all previous years had as square case connector.
There's not many physical internal differences between a 700 and a 4L60. They are interchangeable IF you get the lock-up wiring right.
