what tranny?

what auto tranny does a 93 lt1 car have? i thought it was a 4l60 but it has a detent cable. it is a 700r?

700R4 and 4L60 are the same trans for all intents and purposes.
Not sure what the exact differences are but there aint much.
The 4L60E is basically a 700R4 with electronic controls.

GM just changed the nomenclature on their transmissions. The 700R4 is the same as a 4l60. Just as the THM 400 is now a 3L80 and the 125 is now a 3t40. They did this to help with the identification breakdown, ie. the first digit is the number of gears (speeds), the second digit is the type, L=longitudinal, T=transverse and M=manual. The two numerical digits are the torque capacity of the trans. on their scale. The last digit if it has it will be an E, which means it is electronically shifted.

Bingo...the 4L80 is TH 400 with with OD...

Your tranny is a 700R4 thats been renamed...
