viper transmission?

i'm going to be doing an A4 to t56 swap soon and can pick up a tranny out of a srt-10 cheap. from what i hear the shifter is the only difference in the srt-10 tranny and the viper tranny. will this transmisson work with a few pieces switched out, or is it better to go with a camaro t56? thanks

What car are you trying to do the swap in..... that will determine what you can and can't use??? The obvious differences are the input shaft lenght and clutch designs between the LT1 and LS1 T56's, and that assumes you are talking about a 4th Gen.... or maybe its a 3rd Gen????

Why not add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods. That way people can answer your questions more accurately.

you will have to swap a lot of stuff to get the srt/viper tranny to work in your application. the input shaft is different(splines and pilot size) plus the bell pattern is different so you would need a bell housing. plus you will need a yoke and universal since the splines on the output shaft are different. plus you would prolly need a special crossmember. this is assuming you are talking about a camaro or firebird.

the swap is happening in a 2000 z28, but it sounds like a PITA so i'll just look for a camaro tranny. thanks

You can get beefed up LS1 T56's from a couple sources.
