Vigilante lock-up problem
Hey, I have a vigilante 2800 lockup converter on my car. The problem is it wont stay locked on the highway. It will lock up at 55mph like it is supposed to.. Then a few minutes later it will come unlocked and stay that way.. Has this happened to anyone? It has been like this since it was put on..

That is just the speed it supposed to lock up at.. Im pretty sure I had the programmer do 55mph or maybe he just did it.. But I don't even want to drive my car on the highway for fear of burning up the transmission because of this!

Why so high with the lock-up, it's not like your cam is that big? Mine still locks up at 42mph with no problems. Anyways, get back to your tuner, maybe he has an answer for you and the problem. Good luck.

Im not real sure.. Its an LE1 cam.. Anyway I guess I can give that a try.

I just called bryan at pcmforless and he told me it would be caused by miss fires.. That's weird I had no idea it would affect the converter. I only pick up very minimal missfires on the highway but I guess ill go through and check all the wires etc..

Is the computer commanding lock-up to stay in? To find out, you'd have to drive the car with a scanner that's capable of pulling data.
Are you getting any codes? Maybe an 1870?
This could also be the converter clutch, or apply piston. We've seen HUGE amounts of Vigilante failures in the past year. Was the converter new when you bought it?
