4l60e not going into reverse

drove my car for the first time in 2 weeks, working too long and weekends, wash it and drive about 10 miles. got rough with it on the way home, cut some circles and burn outs then drove home fine. noticed oil or trans fluid under the car or both. was working on n2o kit at throttle noticed valve cover bent from resent engine installation

any way when trying to back out of shop wouldn't go into reverse or neutral checked fluid was a little low added what i had pushed out of shop and drove to intersection down the road trans shifted fine but wouldn't reverse

acts as if in reverse and drive???? in park???

What does it do in neutral and does it hold still in park ? and when in reverse does it feel like the brakes are on or does it free rev

You have a seized forward clutch its where the frictions and steels become locked together unfortunatly that means its rebuild or trans time Feel free to lookat what we have to offer. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

These 4L60E's have a bad habit of cracking the forward piston. When that happens, fluid leaks past it, and burns up the forward clutches. In many caes the clutches/steels will "weld" themselves together. When this happens, the transmission thinks the forward clutches are applied, therefore it will try to move forward in neutral, and it can't have reverse if the forward clutches are applied. As already stated, it's time for a rebuild. Make sure you get a set of updated, steel pistons in the new transmission so this won't happen again.

I'm still driving the car to work sometimes, new symptom when going down the road at speed I can shift to neutral and it will free rev until about five or ten mph then drops back into 1st gear. I can take off in neutral but doesn't shift out of 1st. any other time in d it shifts fine

Is there a bad solenoid ? if the forward clutches were seized would it free rev at all

yea I park on a hill at work and roll back with the engine off obviously its not my dd
