using the 4l60e
Re: using the 4l60e
This is getting confusing.... you have another thread talking about putting a carb on your buddy's 93 LT1, now you are talking about putting a carb on your car. Which is it? You need to clarify which year LT1 you are talking about, since what you can do with the stock PCM, after you delete the fuel injection and the Opti signals is possibly limited.

Re: using the 4l60e
The '93 would be a piece of cake, because it uses a 700R4 (4L60). The 700 isn't electronically controlled.
The 4L60E ('94-up) need TPS input, and RPM's to control shift points.
If you're swapping all this other stuff on a '94-up car, you might also want to consider a 700 swap.

Re: using the 4l60e
The stock PCM needs RPM input - it gets the input from the Optispark distributor. If you go to a rear mounted distributor, you will not have any RPM input to the PCM, hence I don't see how the PCM could control the 4L60E shifting. You would also need to find a way to power the fuel pump, since the stock PCM will shut down the fuel system if it doesn't have the low res pulse from the Opti. But you probably wouldn't be trying to use the stock EFI high pressure fuel pump on a carb setup either. You will also need to find a way to drive the stock tach without the PCM having a signal.
You can retain the Opti, and use the stock PCM to fire the stock coil throug an HEI rear mounted distributor. There is a thread on "Advanced Tech" explaining how.
