Question Transmission Question

I have a 94 z28 convertible and i was wondering what kind of transmission do i have?

Didn't specify if you have a manual or automatic:
Automatic: 4L60-E (4 speed)
Manual: T-56 (6 speed)

'93's had the non-electronic 4L60.

Basically, yes. There may also be some differences based on the year, application, etc.

owned94z has a 94 convertible and his console wher the shifter is only says 2nd D and overdrive (no 1st like any other f body i have seen)

That's because the person who ordered the car did not check the option box for the "performance rear axle" option. As a result, it got a small plastic tab that blocks the selection of "1" (can easilly be removed), the indicator window without the "1", a 2.73 rear axle ratio (instead of 3.23), a 110MPH speedo (instead of 155). Typically, also no Z-rated tires and a speed limiter in the range of 108-115MPH (instead of 255 with the Z-rated tires).

the car shuts of at 110 even with a hypertech chip is there a program (tuner etc) to fix this problem?
