I have a 2000 Z28 automatic. I was driving home the other day and it just came out of gear. It acted like it was in neutral even thought it was in drive.The Service Engine light popped on. I stopped, put it into park and then shifted back into drive. It took off like normal but stays in first gear. It won't shift out even if you manually move the shifter through the gears. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I have it in the shop but they havent looked at it yet and I trust you guys more than a transmission shop anyway.

 

Did you have the code scanned? Might just tell you exactly what the problem is.

 

I would guess that ur silinoids took a crap. Were u racing or something when it happened or was it just out of the blue? I would haveto agree with the above aswell, you shuld have just went to checkers and have then scan it for free, then u would know what it was n if it was something you could have fixed urself. I cant see a tranny just..die..but then again mine did. So i bought one from eatmyshift.com
