Re: Midwest Converters

all i have seen installed have been junk. i do not like them at all and havent seen too much success from them. i learned that a good converter is going to cost u $$$$. a PI is the best out there. if u have to go cheaper, i would go with a Coan.

Re: Midwest Converters

I've heard the total opposite, I have yet to here any negative feedback form anyone till today. Why are they junk?? I'm in the process of getting one myself and have decided, why should i pay $300-400 more for a converter when midwest, offers the same warranty and restall option.

Re: Midwest Converters

Never had a problem with mine and everyone I know who has one has nothing but good to say and the gross majority of folks I've heard from on the net about them say the same. Has held up so far but now I'm swapping out to an M6. Consistent 1.9's on street tires.

Re: Midwest Converters

Midwest is a great converter. I bought mine about a year and a half ago, and am very pleased with it. It's a 2800 rpm lockup, with a 9.5" center section. It also looks to have an anti-ballon plate on it, even though I didn't specify that in the order. $455 got me that converter shipped to my door. I think the price has gone up recently because they are using better materials? I'm not 100% sure though. Anyway, a HOTcam, homeported heads and that Midwest converter dropped a whole second off of my 1/8th mile times.

96LT14u2Nv- I don't know where you are getting that from. You recommend PI, I had someone telling me last night that PI is junk. Apparently, after doing ONLY a swap from a PI 3200 to a Yank 3200 they gained about .4- Take that for what it's worth. Plus, I think it's silly to spend $700+ on a converter, just my opinion.

Doubtful that was the reason they dropped .4.

When I was bolt-ons only, without my converter I was doing about 13.5's. In the same weather with my 2800 Vigilante converter I dropped down to consistent 13.0's, and even cracked a few 12.9's in there. Was cutting consistent 1.7x 60' times.

With the cam I went as quick as 12.06 on the same 2800 vigilante, cutting consistent mid to low 1.6x 60' times on Nitto DR's.

I am now on ET Streets continuing to cut 1.6x times on that same 2800 stall.

I just removed it and sent it back to Vigilante to have it restalled to a 3200. PI has great service, and sells and excellent strong product. I have over 200 track passes on mine.

Re: Midwest Converters

I have heard that the Midwest are good converters and have seen a few cars running good times with them. I just went with the Vigilante because from what I have read it is probably the best.

Well that's what the guy told me. It just goes to show you that opinions on this stuff are spread out all over the place. PI might be great converters, just a little pricey for me. Especially when I can get a Midwest that works great for about $450.
