Hey guys, im still chasing my low idle and i was jst looking for a little input. Car idles fine to high when cold which is normal but once it warms up it idles low when in gear and stopped. I usually just kick it up in neutral at stop lights but i have noticed something. If the car is rolling and i put it in Neutral the idle stays steady. Once the car comes to a complete stop the idle drops down. is this normal or is it pointing me to another problem like to low of a stall converter for the cam. Ive never noticed this happening on any of my other vehicles but they are all stock.

This is normal, but how much does it drop in rpms (when hot) from neutral to drive? If it is higher than normal, it is best that this gets solved. Could be computer issues. If you keep going from neutral to drive all of the time like your doing, this will start to wear the forward clutch pack out prematurely, besides being annoying.

The OBDII was tuned for the hotcam and all of the add ons with nitrous and it does the same thing. The OBD1 was tuned to run without the nitrous. from idling in gear to idling in neutral its about 100 rpms difference. when its cold it idles about 200 more rpms both ways which seems about right. The biggest annoyance is that when its in gear idling and idles at its lowest rpm there is a ticking sound coming from the motor. this is between 600-650 rpms. Im hoping it is just the valves being out of adjustment but the only time i hear it is when it idles down in the 600's. I just havent had time to pull the valve covers lately with work and the crappy weather.
I have the cable and laptop to attempt to tune it myself i just havent sat down and read through the tons of articles on how to do it yet. I tried the adjustment on the TB but that really doesnt help much because it seems like the computer just cancels it out once teh car is in gear and it goes back to the previous low idle problem.
I also read that i can make the tps hole bigger and adjust the idle that way but im not sure if the same thing will happen where the computer ignores it.

If your trying to save some money then I guess you can try and put a safe tune on it yourself, but I highly don't recomment it! I would take it and get it professionally tuned. As far as making the hole in the TB, again I would only do that if the tune does not work, thats usually only needed if you have an extremely radical cam. I did have mine done, but I also had a supercharged car.....theres just so many options its all a matter of what your willing to spend...
The ticking noise is probably just a lifter, mine does it all the time, its loud and sounds like something is broken.
