replacing axle shafts
replacing axle shafts
I recently bent one of my axle shafts and was going to be replacing it soon. It will be the first time I have done it but i do know how. I was just wondering, is there anything else I should look at, fix, or replace while i have it apart. I know to refill rear with synthetic and limited slip additive and to replace the bearing and seal, nething else?? By the way, its a '95 Z28 A4 w/3.23's....thanx
New bearings would be pretty much all. Inspect the diff too while you're at it ot make sure there's no abnormal wear or damage. To swap the axles, all you really need to do is pull the calipers and rotors and disconnect the axels at the c-clips. I had my 10-bolt apart and out over the summer...it was pretty simple. You'll need a new gasket for the cover too in case you didnt know.
