Transmission
Re: Transmission
do you have stock gears in the rear?
could just be the gears wearing down. not exactly normal...but not exactly something to worry about either.
it is a pretty vague question...hardly even a question at all.

Re: Transmission
Throw us a few clues here..... I know you originally posted this in "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech (it ws moved to "Drivetrain" for obvious reasons), so we can guess your F-Body is a 93 to 97 model. But to keep people from guessing, create a "signature" including the year of your car, the specific trans type (M6 or A4?) and any significant modifications.
The car's rearend is humming. How loud? When? At what speed? Is it a constant hum, or does it vary with the vehicles speed, or with the engine speed? Is it ever louder than at other times?
How does "GETTING THE TRANSMISSION REBUILD" relate to the hum? Is there some common problem?
Lots of smart people here, ready to help you, but they need a more specfic description of the problem, and some info about your car to help.

Re: Transmission
When my rearend was humming it turned out to be the bearings. When i would drive it would start out as a slow steady hum, and get louder as speeds increased. It was a constant hum that would not go away (while in gear that is).
Also, I agree with Injuneer...what does getting a rebuild do for you if its rearend related. My first thought is to have a speed shop check it out.
