Gears..average install price?

Possibly thinking of having 3.73's installed. I'm looking at a rear-end package taht includes a new rear-end TA cover, gears, oils, etc. for $400 from thunderracing. Anyways how much is the average install price for gears?

Got mine installed for $150 including fluid + posi additive. He also put a new rear diff cover on because mine was bent. I got a great deal and my rear has held up to hard launches for 2 years on Strange 2 series 3.73s. There's always been some whining at 35-45mph, but no biggie.

Wow, it's pretty exspensive for rear end work around here, mainly due to the few number of competant shops that actually do quality rear end work. Anyways, you're looking anywhere from 500-1000 for a gear swap with installation of a rear end master rebuild kit.

I live near cas0484 and he's right. It depends on how many shops are in your area. I would definitely recommend doing some research on shops to see which one has the best reputation. No matter what gears you get they should be put in correctly to make no noise. When i got mine done about 4 months ago i paid about $900. This price included the new 3.73's, rebuild kit, oil, and labor. It wasn't all that bad, plus i knew the guy that installed them. So far they work great and don't make any noise.

I paid $250 plus the gears and fluid. It really isn't too expensive if you look around. Took the shop that did mine about 2.5 hours after having to retake out the gears and add spacers and play with it a few times to get it right.
