Transgo Reprogramming kit HD2 with Yank SS3600

Hi.. I cannot find any info about using the Transgo HD2 reprogramming kit with a yank SS3600. Yank advise not to use shift kits with their converters due to increased line pressure causing extra wear & tear.

I have the factory gear box and have not yet installed the 3.73 gears & converter. I am trying to get it right the 1st time. The car has 35000 miles

I am also going to upgrade to a Fairbanks billet 2nd servo and Dsonnax Dual 4th servo piston. with boost valve and Sonnax Pinless forward accumulater.

Was also looking at a B&M megashifter and will be doing mainly manual shifts. It is also a street car.

With these mods being installed, will i need the Transgo HD2 kit. The Z28 currently has a terrible lag and does not feel firm between manual shifts. What do you all think......THANKS..............

Re: Transgo Reprogramming kit HD2 with Yank SS3600

I have never heard of this (Yank advise not to use shift kits with their converters due to increased line pressure causing extra wear & tear.) I have hundreds of these "modified" TransGo Shift kits out there using Vigilantes, Pro Torques, Yanks, etc.
I set up the TransGo Shift kits so they will have smooth part throttle shifts (which is very easy on the geartrain), and the shifts will get quicker and firmer with more throttle. Unless you have more than 700FWHP, the Corvette servo will work fine, but if you want something more than the Corvette servo, then the Sonnax 2nd apply servo will be much better for smooth part throttle shifts. I would not use the Billet servo. The Sonnax "dual apply 4th piston" is ok, but not needed if you are not going to make 3-4 WOT shifts. My kits come with the Sonnax "pinless" forward accumulator setup. Hardened 2nd accumulator pin and modified piston, and a new 4th accumulator piston and oem pin. If you want the Sonnax pinless setup for the 4th accumulator, that is ok, but the pinless setup will not work for the 2nd accumulator with the TransGo Performance Shift kit. Let me know if I can be of help here?

Dana, Thanks for your reply...

Yank's web site lists in their FAQ section.

Is a shift kit required or recommended?

10. Yank Performance Converters can achieve maximum performance and efficiency without the use of shift kits. Shift kits dramatically raise transmission line pressure to increase shift firmness. Increased shift firmness will not increase performance, but create unnecessary stress on the transmission and other drive-line components.

I May have got the words "stress" and "wear & Tear" muddled.

Can you help me with these mods...........
