Trans issue

Im new to Camaros so please help me!

I have a 94 Z28 automatic. The car runs good with anything under half throttle. As long as you are light on the gas the car shifts perfect as long as it is under 2500 - 3000 rpms. If you try to come hard off the line and try to rev 1st or second past 3000 the rpms scream and it feels like the car is in neutral.

I dont think it needs a whole trans because the car is completely driveable. I took it on a 200mile round trip on the highway doing 80mph and it ran great....even got over 22mpg!

Does this sound like a bad stall converter??? Maybe a soleniod on the valve body?? Any help is greatly appreciated. I like the car but I want to see what it can do at WOT.

sounds like the transmission is shot to me. Clutches are probably toast and cant hold any power, hence the revving. Give performabuilt a call.

Yeah but it holds once it goes through the gears. If Im in overdrive and punch the gas to down shift it will and holds over 3000rpms.....its strange.

going from 4th to 3rd is a lot different than going from 2nd to 3rd. Start looking for either a rebuild or a donor.
