Trans-Go/700R4 question.

I installed a transgo kit in my [93] 700R4 to firm up the 2-3 at wot, which it did but now it is slow on the 2-3 at low or part throttle. The 1-2 & 3-4 are fine. I shimmed the servo with 2 thick shims & 1 thin shim and used 1 washer in the accumulator and followed the instructions for the rest of the installation. I also have a pro-torque 2400 stall 10 1/2" converter. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Trans-Go/700R4 question.

The 700-2-3 Shift kit is designed to be smooth not necessarily slow on the part throttle shift. Shimmong the accumulator has nothing to do with the 2-3 shift. Do you have the Corvette servo?, if not this will help with the 2-3 shift at all throttle openings.

Re: Trans-Go/700R4 question.

Unless you took it out, your transmission already has a "Corvette" servo...As do ALL LT1/LS1 F-bodies. If anyone tries to sell you a "Vette" servo for a 4th gen F-Body, they're trying to rip you off.

You would've been ALOT better off getting a Superior HP kit for the 700. The TG kit will do nothing but destroy your transmission.

You might consider a Fairbanks "Billet" 2nd servo. These things give a definite 2-3 shift improvement. I use them in tandem with a Sonnax 4th servo in ALL my racing 700/4L60E's. They are far superior over the "Vette" servo. The only drawback is they give a very harsh 3-2 downshift when coming to a stop in a 700...When the shifter is in the "D" range.

Re: Trans-Go/700R4 question.

As you can see there are different approachs to building the 700R4. I have been installing the 700R4 Performance Shift kits in 90% of all my builds (hundreds) for the last 10 years with no problems caused by using this kit. I do not use the billet servo, or the oversize overdrive servo, nor do I recommend them (overkill). The Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, Corvette servo, larger boost valves, will do everything that is required to make this unit live. My "modified" Trans-Go Performance Shift kit offers even more (smooth part throttle 1-2 shifts, etc.). Remember that many times people install a valve body kit (Trans-Go, Superior, etc.), in an effort to save the unit or trying to get more miles before a rebuild. Then when it does not work as it is supposed too, they blame the kit. If the 3-4 clutches are not in great shape, or the 2-4 band is not in the best of shape, etc., then the kit cannot solve this until the clutch/band problems etc., are addressed.
