tranny wont stay in park

i recently installed a tranny in my 95 transam. i put every thing back on driveshaft,torquw arm etc.... now when i try to put the transmission in park and let off the emergency brake the car starts to roll. where did i go wrong could it be i didnt install the drive shaft right?

no...shift linkage on the side of the tranny is adjustable...get under there. youll figure it out...

What Daniel said. There is a linkage that needs to be adjusted right. It is probably not pushing it all the way into park.

well i put the tranny in park manually i got under the car and pushed the lever forward and the car still wont stay in park what is wrong?????

It's out of adjustment, look at how the rod is threaded and figure it out.

If you unhook your linkage at the transmission itself, and put in park, it still tries to roll? If that's the case, either the park linkage retaining bracket in the transmission is loose, the park gear is grenaded, or your rear is wasted. You can check directly at the transmission. Put the rear of the car in the air...Put the trans in park (manually..cable unhooked) and try to turn the driveshaft. If it turns, it's in the transmission. If it locks, it's the rear.

If the shifter itself is jumping out of gear it's definately out of adjustment, if the shifter isn't moving then it's something else.
