Tranny temp sensor question

I have a electric tranny temp gauge but no temp sensor. Where is the best place to mount a temp sensor? I will be installing a Tru-Cool tranny cooler. Will it be best to plumb it into the line going to the cooler?

Theres a pressure test port on the drivers side. check out this link.

There is some debate on whether or not a temerature probe can take the pressure at that port. It can go up to about 300psi at times. I know it has been done by many.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm just wondering how far and by how much a reading there would lag behind the tranny fluid temp.

I don't think it would lag at all, theres fluid actively circulating at that port.

I had heard that there wasn't any fluid at that test port. Oh well. Do you have a part# for a sending unit that will work?

You couldn't measure the transmission fluid pressure at that port, if there was no transmission fluid present.

I thought it was case pressure. I didn't realize it is line pressure.

Anybody got a part number for a sending unit? I'm going to be under my car for the next 2 days and would like to get it done now.

The install procedure linked above used the sensor that comes with the AutoMeter Sport-Comp gauge. See if you can find out from AutoMeter what the part # is.
