You need to add some info.... like the year of the car, model, engine, trans and any major mods. I'll guess you have an LT1, so DTC 16 would be loss of low resolution pulse from the optical module in the Optispark distributor. If the engine is running, its an intermittent/stored code, since the engine can't run without the high res pulse. Can be caused by a corroded or damaged Opti sub-harness, or by intermittent blinding of the optical wheel by rust, moisture, etc.

What code did you get, if any, for "manifold pressure switch"? Could you possibly be referring the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor?

lol...i guess i should have gave more info

1994 z28,automatic.the only mods are new valve covers and a kickin stereo....lol...anyways heres my story.i had my transmission rebuilt because it was slipping, and for a while now and before the rebuild of the transmission it wont shift when i am flooring the gas,i have to let off on the gas to get it to shift.also when i am on the freeway cruising 75 or 80 mph and floor the gas it will auto downshift to 2nd gear not third gear.which causes my rpms to jump way up high, real fast.i thought the shift points nedeed to be reprogrammed ,i have been told it cant be reproggramed.i took it back to transmission place they rode in car ,i showed them problem.they agree that it does not shift right.but it does not slip and works perfect except under full gas it shifts weird.they said if any thing electronic was wrong in transmission there scanner would see it.the only code that popped out was a code 16 low resolution pulse(i just had a new oem gm optispark put in 10,000 miles ago.the guys at the transmission shop did not know what it meant but said it had nothing to do with transmission.no other codes were given.the guy at the transmission place said that it could be the manifold pressure switch that was causing the shifting problem.i was told be someone else also that the man pres switch also had something to do with the shifting.i was also told that these transmissions are famous for having a late shift problem and it could be cured with a shift kit,or could be caused by some piston inside the transmission that is made from steel and should be switched to a aluminum piston.also could a problem like this also be from a rear transmission mount that keeps breaking(three of them in a year).something like the electronics not reading tourque correctly from a transmission that is pulling with torque causing it to move.i just replaced the mount a few months ago but it still had same problem.

DTC 16 is for the Opti, and it is not unusual to find that in the PCM as a "stored" code. It should have nothing to do with the tranny late shifting. Clear the PCM (pull "PCM BAT" fuse for 30 seconds) and see how fast DTC 16 returns.

Based on your description of the shifting problem, I would recommend that the problem be posted on the Drivetrain forum. There are some real pro's there on the 4L60E.

I'll move your post to "Drivetrain"........

The 4L60E is a totally electronic controlled transmission , As shift kit will not fix the problem , The first thing to do os get ot back on a scanner and look at the data stram and see what gears being comanded .Sounds like you have a tuning or sensor issue. Just because theres no code does not mean theres no issue, And contrary to what they said shift points can be programed but this should not be needed unless you have change the rear ratio or have installed a high stall converter? Does your speedometer work correctly?
