Tranny gear "Multiplier" = Auto 8 Speed?

I once saw someone post about a unit that mounts to the rear of the transmission that somehow "multiplies" the number of gears you have. I.e. an A4 becomes an "A8". I assume if it works there is some kind of hideous catch. Anyone have any information? Anyone try this product? The person who posted about it said they were installing one...

Thanks all,

I have a Gearvendors in my car. Its really only an overdrive that splits gears by .78. You would have to manually shift and engage and disengage the GV unit to make 8 gears. In our cars that's impractical.Unless I want to go through the gears I usually leave mine in auto mode where it shifts into overdrive at 43 mph. It'really makes the car an A5. It will drop your rpm by 650 on the highway. In my car with 3.73s my rpms go from 3000 at 80 to 2350. I have pics of my instal if anyone is interested.

My GV shifting is totally manual. It is possible to "split" the gears with an automatic (6-speed with the TH400).

Mine has an old style dimmer switch on the floor to turn it on and off. There's also a toggle switch with lights for setting it to maual or auto. I leave it in auto mode and turn it off with the foot switch if I want to go through second and third. It will shift into OD at 45 mph at WOT and kick you in the butt if you leave it on.Nice jump though Just bought a new chromed Powerdyne 4.5 psi blower on Ebay for the spring. The GV is good for 1200 hp so I should be ok.
